Vijay Sethupathi’s 'Junga' to be predominantly shot in Paris

Written by : TNM

It’s been a phenomenal year for Vijay Sethupathi with back-to-back blockbusters in the form of Kavan and Vikram Vedha. With nearly half a dozen projects in his kitty including the forthcoming thriller Puriyatha Puthir, due for release on September 1, he is currently the most sought after actor in Kollywood.

One of his upcoming projects include action-comedy Junga, which reunites him with director Gokul, with whom he had worked in the hit comedy Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, and the film will be predominantly shot in Paris. Vijay hopes to wrap up the shoot of this project in a single schedule from October.

Vijay is rumoured to be playing a gangster and he will be paired with Sayyeshaa, the girl from Vanamagan. The Shivaay actress plays a girl born and raised in Paris, and she was signed after much contemplation as Gokul was on the lookout for an unusual pair. Sayyeshaa was supposed to commence work on Prabhudheva’s Karuppu Raja Vella Raja, but the project has been put on the back-burner for the time being. Hence, she went ahead and signed this film which will feature a very strong supporting cast.

According to the director, the film will showcase Vijay in a different dimension. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised. Most of the technical crew from Gokul’s last film is likely to be retained, according to a reliable source. Meanwhile, it is also being speculated that Vijay Sethupathi might join hands with filmmaker Mani Ratnam in a multi-starrer project. It’d be interesting to see if this collaboration materialises as the duo will be joining hands for the first time.
