Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ theatrical rights bagged by Screen Scene Entertainments

Vijay’s upcoming film with director Atlee is progressing at a brisk pace. The title, the first and second look of the film was released by the makers last week. Titled Bigil,  Vijay is speculated to play a dual role in the film, that of a father, and a son. One among them will be a football player or coach in the film.

Touted to be a sports drama, The film, being produced by AGS Entertainment and will be hitting the screens this Diwali. With the pre-release business already open and Popular Tamil distributor and producer  Screen Scene entertainments have bagged the Tamil Theatrical right of the film for a whopping price. While the overseas rights of the film have been bagged by United India Exporters and X Gen Studio have jointly the for a whooping price. While the reports are that the pre-release business of the film will touch a benchmark price of Rs.220 crores.

Screen Screen Entertainment known for some big films for quite some time now. Their recent releases were Arun Vijay's Thadam, Hip-hop Tamizha's Natpe Thunai, Prabhu Deva's Devi 2, Vishal’s Ayogya. It was recently announced that they will bankroll the Tamil remake of Bollywood flick Vicky Donor is all set to be remade in Tamil as Dharala Prabhu starring Bigg Boss fame Harish Kalyan.

There are also reports that Bollywood Filmmaker Karan Johar is in talks to acquire the Hindi remake rights of the film, while there is no official word on the same.

The film which also stars Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Yogi Babu and Vivek in crucial roles has music by AR Rahman and he had in a recent interview confirmed that the film will have a sports backdrop. It’s worth mentioning that AGS Entertainment had said in a statement that the film will be a pucca mass entertainer and will deal with a genre that will be first-of-its-kind for Vijay.
