The teaser of Vijay Deverakonda’s next film Dear Comrade has been released. The actor took to Twitter and shared the links to the teaser in the four different languages in which it will be released.

“Dear Comrades, Fight for what you love. You Must. Your man, Comrade Deverakonda. #DearComradeTeaser,” Vijay tweeted on Sunday morning.

The 1.07 minute teaser starts off with a group of men fighting inside what appears to be a college. Vijay appears on the scene with a streak of blood running down his face. In a slow motion shot, we see him approaching one of the men in the fight and punching him. The next shot shows Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna sharing a kiss as rain drizzles in the background. All the while, a song crooned by Sid Sriram is playing in the background.

Vijay Deverakonda, who was last seen in Taxiwaala last year, is said to be playing the role of a student leader with a Communist background in Dear Comrade. Rashmika Mandanna will be seen playing the lead opposite Vijay and is reportedly seen as a cricketer playing for the state of Telangana. Sources say that Rashmika underwent special training for her role at the cricket club in Hyderabad prior to the commencement of shooting. Vijay and Rashmika were last seen together in the August 2018 release Geetha Govindam, which got positive reviews.

Dear Comrade is directed by Bharat Kamma and is produced by Y Naveen, Y Ravi Shankar and CV Mohan under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. The movie is reportedly inspired by the Malayalam film Comrade in America which starred Dulquer Salman in the lead role, along with Karthika Muralidharan and Chandini Sreedharan.

Vijay Deverakonda, who debuted in Tollywood with the 2011 film Nuvila, didn’t garner much attention until the 2015 release Yevade Subramanyam, which saw him essaying a supporting role alongside Nani. He rose to fame with Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam’s 2016 release Pelli Choopulu, a romantic comedy starring him and Ritu Varma. However, it was the 2017 release Arjun Reddy that truly catapulted him to stardom and announced his arrival as a mainstream actor.

Dear Comrade is expected to hit the screens on May 31 and will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
