After the phenomenal success of Theri and Mersal, Thalapathy Vijay and Atlee are set to join hands for the third time currently titled as Thalapathy 63. The latest is that the shooting of the film will commence from January 21 or 22 in Chennai. Art director Muthuraj is constructing a set for the first schedule.

Nayathara will team up with Vijay for this untitled film and it marks the second outing of the stars after their last outing Villu in 2009 which was helmed by director and choreographer Prabhu Deva.

Touted to be a sports entertainer, it is rumoured that Vijay will feature as a coach and the movie will be shot in the US. Recently, Atlee, cinematographer GK Vishnu and producer Archana Kalpathi were camped in in Los Angeles, scouting for locations.

The film was officially launched last month in Chennai. Comedians Yogi Babu and Vivek are on board while the rest of the cast are yet to be finalised. The film has music by A.R.Rahman and the project marks the third consecutive collaboration of AR Rahman and Vijay after Mersal and Sarkar.

To be produced by AGS Entertainment , makers recently said in a press statement, “The film will be a mass family entertainer with a large cast, superior technical crew and best of production value. We are putting together the best global talent to attempt a genre that will be the first of its kind for Thalapathy. The film will deal with a genre that will be first-of-its-kind for him and features Vijay in a never seen before avatar. It is believed that the project is being planned as a Diwali 2019 release and it will be the third consecutive Diwali release for Vijay following the two blockbusters, Mersal and Sarkar.”

Vijay's recently-released Sarkar, directed by AR Murugadoss, zooms past Rs 250-crore-mark and is declared a blockbuster hit. Despite getting mixed reviews, the film took a thunderous opening worldwide.
