If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, the Vijay starrer Kaththi is all set to be remade in Bollywood.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has reportedly acquired the film’s Hindi remake rights and will bankroll the project under the banner of SLB Productions, which had earlier made Rowdy Rathore and Gabbar, both remakes of southern blockbusters Vikramarkudu and Ramanna respectively. It is still not finalised who will direct and play the lead in the remake. Kaththi, which featured Vijay in dual roles, revolved around a crook and a social activist. The film marked the second time collaboration of Vijay and Murugadoss after Thuppakki.

Meanwhile, Murugadoss and Vijay are busy wrapping up Sarkar, which is gearing up for a Deepavali release. The makers have completed the film’s Chennai schedule and recently headed to the US to shoot the final schedule. In the US the crew shot a lavish song sequence and some important sequences on Vijay and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.

According to industry reports, the film stars Vijay as a US-returned character who vows to bring about change in society. Veteran actor Radha Ravi is tipped to be playing the antagonist. Keerthy Suresh joins hands with Vijay after last year’s Bairavaa. The film also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Prem Kumar and Yogi Babu. The film’s introductory song was shot in Las Vegas not very long ago.

AR Rahman has been officially signed to compose the music for the project, which will mark his reunion with Murugadoss after the Hindi version of Ghajini. Girish Gangadharan, the young lensman whose recent work includes Kali and Solo, is cranking the camera. National award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad, who has worked with Murugadoss in projects such as Thuppakki and Spyder, is also part of the film. All eyes are on Sarkar as the combination of Vijay and Murugadoss has set the bar very high.
