Vijay 61 to be called ‘Thalapathy’? Team miffed with ‘leaks of surprise elements’

Written by : TNM Staff

The makers of Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay’s yet-untitled project with director Atlee are finding it extremely difficult to stop crucial information about the film from leaking. With the entire plot already doing the rounds, the team was extremely upset and furious over the leak of an important still – from the period portion featuring Vijay, Nithya Menen and SJ Suryah - from the sets on Thursday.

In a statement, the makers made the following request: “Thalapathy 61 is a big film with a lot of effort taken. False news and surprise elements being leaked is not good for the film. Request you all to wait for official confirmation from the production house. Lots of surprise elements await Ilaiyathalapathy fans.”

It is also rumoured that the film’s title is Thalapathy, and that producers Sri Thenandal Films are in talks with GV Films to acquire the title rights of Mani Ratnam’s eponymous classic starring Rajinikanth and Mammootty.

Currently, the team is shooting in Chennai’s Binny Mills. Come April, they will travel to UK and US to shoot some important sequences. It is also believed that A.R Rahman, busy wrapping up work on Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai, is yet to commence work on the songs.

Also starring Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the film is aiming for Christmas release.
