The first video song from "Poomaram", Abrid Shine's directorial venture after "Action Hero Biju", was released on Friday.  The melody, with music and vocals by Faizal Razi, has been serenading the Internet since.

Said to be a campus drama, the film will mark the Malayalam debut of Kalidas Jayaram, son of actors Jayaram and Parvathi. Kunchacko Boban and Meera Jasmine are also part of the cast.

Kalidas Jayaram's Tamil debut, "Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum" released recently to poor reviews. But the youngster appears to have won the hearts of many fans in "Poomaram". The song has already garnered 3 lakh views on YouTube.

Films like "Premam" and "Aanandam" have brought back the campus drama trend to Malayalam cinema in a realistic and interesting fashion, moving away from the typical boy-meets-girl storylines. It will be interesting to see what Abrid Shine does in "Poomaram".

"Poomaram" is expected to release early next year.
