Veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao to make biopic on former TN CM Jayalalithaa

Written by : TNM

The life story of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who passed away in December last year, can make for a compelling watch.

Although several books have been published about her rise from a movie star to a nation-wide popular politician, it’ll be interesting to see her story unfold on the silver-screen.

Apparently, veteran Telugu filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao is planning a biopic on the legendary actress.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, he said, “Currently, I am in the process of penning the script for the film. It will be a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. Since I haven’t finalised the script, I am not thinking about the cast at present.”

The project is most likely to take off later this year or early next year.

Asked if he has met Sasikala, Jayalalithaa’s successor, to help him in the process of scripting, he said, “I haven’t met anyone as of now. The idea of a biopic just struck me and it will take a while for me to confirm things.”

With Ramya Krishnan and Trisha having already expressed their desire to play ‘Amma’ on screen, it will be really interesting to see who finally bags the opportunity.
