It’s the season of actors making a splash on television. After Kamal Haasan, Arvind Swami, Suriya and Vishal, it is Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's turn to make her television debut. She will be soon seen hosting a show called Unnai Arindhaal, which will discuss problems in the society and also help people introspect themselves, on Jaya TV from October 14.

Varu, as she’s commonly known in the industry, shared a promo video of show on her Twitter page and wrote: “Let’s stop questioning what others have done and let’s start asking ourselves what we are doing? Join me in this new venture to try and be the change. If we change so will the world.”

On the career front, Varu awaits the release of Sandakozhi 2 and Sarkar. Interestingly, she’s rumoured to be playing negative roles in both the films. At the audio launch of Sandakozhi 2 took place last month. During the recently held audio launch, Vishal said that audiences will remember Varu’s character in the film for a long time.

“The reason none of us spoke about her character because we wanted to keep it a surprise. You wouldn’t have seen Varu in such a character before. Audiences are going to remember for a long time after they walk out of the cinemas.” She also plays a pivotal role in Dhanush’s Maari 2, which is slated to hit the screens later this year.

Varalaxmi also has Velvet Nagaram, in which she will be seen playing a journalist. In a recent interview, the film’s director Manoj kumar Natrajan said, “The story revolves around the heroine and a performance-oriented character. Varalaxmi portrays the central character that comes to the city to investigate the atrocities meted out to Adivasis belonging to Kodaikanal. The subsequent predicament she faces and how intelligently the truth is revealed form the crux.” The story is set to happen within 48 hours, he added.
