Well-known Bollywood actor Ronit Roy is making his foray into Tamil filmdom with upcoming Jayam Ravi starrer which will be directed by Lakshman of Romeo Juliet and Bogan fame.

Best known for his work in films such as Udaan and Ugly, Roy made in southern debut in Jr NTR’s Telugu film Jai Lava Kusa in which he played the antagonist. He will once again play the antagonist in Jayam Ravi’s yet-untitled 25th film which also stars Nidhhi Agerwal.

The rest of the cast and crew will be announced in the coming weeks.

Talking about the film, Lakshman recently told Times of India: “Unlike in his previous 24 films, the actor will be giving it back to the society with this film. It has an agriculture-based subject, and he will be playing a farmer. There will be a social message, on the lines of Shankar sir’s films. This will not be one of those regular villages, but something like the one we see in Thiruda Thiruda,” he said.

The project, which will have music by D Imman, will go on the floors from June 15. Meanwhile, Ravi has just wrapped up shooting for Komaali starring Kajal Aggarwal and Samyuktha Hegde.

He is expected to begin work on Thani Oruvan 2 with his brother later this year. Last year, Mohan Raja had said that the sequel will also be a social thriller. “Just like the first part, Thani Oruvan 2 will have a similar premise of a social backdrop. It’ll be an engrossing cat and mouse thriller between the protagonist and antagonist,” he had said in a statement.
