In an illustrious career, actor-comedian Vadivelu is known for many memorable roles but his portrayal of twin brothers Pulikesi and Ukraputhran in the 2006 historical comedy Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi, directed by Chimbu Deven, is undoubtedly one of his best performances.

A decade after the release of the film, its sequel Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi went on the floors last year in Chennai’s EVP World, where a huge period set was erected and where key scenes were planned to be shot in the first schedule. Since then the project has been stalled allegedly due to Vadivelu’s non-cooperation on various issues like costumes, selection of supporting actors and remuneration.

Following this, Shankar, who happens to be the film’s producer, had approached the Producers’ Council which forwarded the complaint to the Nadigar Sangam to resolve the issue. Since the complaints emerged, rumours have been doing the rounds that the project has been shelved.

The latest update is that two more producers have complained about Vadivelu’s unprofessional behaviour. According to a report, actor-producer RK had roped in the actor to star in the horror comedy Neeyum Naanum Naduvula Peyum. However, according to RK, the actor did not turn up for shooting despite receiving a huge sum for the film. RK has now filed a complaint against the actor for non-compliance. Similarly, producer Stephen, who had signed Vadivelu in a crucial role in GV Prakash Kumar’s upcoming film with Ram Bala, has also raised a red flag against the actor’s behaviour.

Reports say that both Nadigar Sangam and the Producers’ Council have issued notices to Vadivelu asking for an explanation.

Last seen on screen in a key role in Vijay’s Mersal, the Imsai Arasan sequel was expected to be Vadivelu’s grand comeback, especially after his recent appearances in Kathi Sandai and Sivalinga were not received well. In 24am Pulikesi, Parvathy Omanakuttan is paired with Vadivelu, along with a battalion of supporting cast. Ghibran has been roped in to compose the music.
