Triple bonanza in 2017 for Dhanush fans, as actor signs on for Maari sequel

2017 might just be the year of sequels in Kollywood. After the recent announcement of “VIP 2”, Dhanush has confirmed that a sequel to “Maari” is on the cards, and that it will reunite him with director Balaji Mohan.

The announcement came hours after the official launch of “VIP 2”, and Dhanush’s fans are seeing this as a double dhamaka. This means Dhanush might have three releases next year, including Gautham Menon’s “Ennai Nokki Paayum Thota”.

Currently busy shooting for Gautham’s film, Dhanush is expected to commence work on the Soundarya Rajinikanth-directed “VIP 2” from January next year. The project also stars Kajol in a pivotal role.

It is being rumoured that she might play a negative character, on the lines of Ramya Krishnan’s Neelambari from Padayappa. Although no official announcement has been made so far regarding her role, reliable sources have confirmed that she plays the MD of a Mumbai-based company and Dhanush will take her head on.

Meanwhile, Dhanush will also resume work on Vetrimaaran’s “Vada Chennai” next year. Having already completed the first schedule, he had to take a break from the shooting as Vetrimaaran got busy with the Oscar campaign of his film “Visaaranai”.
