The shooting for Vijay’s next titled Sarkar is progressing at breakneck speed so as to enable it to hit the silver screens on November 7 to make it a Deepavali release. Touted to be a political action thriller, it is one of the most anticipated films of the year.

If sources are anything to go by, Thenandal Studios, the makers of the actor’s previous hit Mersal, has bagged the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the film.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film, reportedly a complete action entertainer, went on the floors early this year and two schedules have been wrapped up. The makers have completed 60% shooting and are planning to shoot the introduction song in Las Vegas.

Bankrolled by Sun Pictures’ Kalanithi Maran on a huge budget, the film features Keerthy Suresh as Vijay’s leading lady. The film will also have Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Pala. Karuppaiah, Prem Kumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi playing important roles.

It is learnt from reliable sources that Varalaxmi's character has many shades and she will be seen playing the role of the Chief Minister’s daughter in the film. Pala. Karuppaiah will be seen in the role of a politician and will be playing a negative character.

This is the third time that Vijay and Murugadoss are working together; the duo earlier collaborated for Thuppakki and Kaththi.

AR Rahman has been officially signed to compose music for the project, which will mark his reunion with Murugadoss after the Hindi version of Ghajini. The technical crew of the film comprises Girish Gangadharan for cinematography, A Santhanam for art direction and A Sreekar Prasad for editing. The film has been penned jointly by director AR Murugadoss and writer Jeyamohan.
