Telugu actor Allu Sirish, last seen in sleeper hit Srirastu Subhamastu, has commenced work on his maiden Malayalam project, 1971 – Beyond Borders, which will be helmed by Major Ravi and will also star Mohanlal.

The film’s shoot is currently underway in Rajasthan, and Sirish, who plays a tank commander, is excited to be part of the shoot. While his brother Allu Arjun enjoys a large fan base in Kerala, thanks to the success of his Telugu films dubbed into Malayalam; Sirish is hoping to win over audiences with a direct Malayalam film.

According to a Times of India report, the film, set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, focuses on the battle tank fights between the nations and the internal conflicts of the soldiers on both sides of the border. “Wrap up for Day 1 of #1971. 20 day schedule at Arjungarh army base, Rajasthan. Feels good to be back on sets after 4 months,” Sirish wrote on his Twitter page on Sunday.

It is believed that Mohanlal will be seen in a dual role – one as iconic Major Mahadevan and the other one as his father Colonel Sahadevan.
