Teaser of Radhika Kumaraswamy’s ‘Damayanthi’ released

Touted to be a horror comedy, ‘Damayanthi’ is a period flick set in the 90s with oodles of VFX included.

The teaser and second look of Radhika Kumaraswamy starrer Damayanthi was released recently. The film is directed by Navarasan, who is also the producer of the film. Released in all southern languages, the teaser starts with a huge abandoned palace with frightening visuals ending with Radhika seen in a fearsome avatar.

Touted to be a horror comedy, the film has Radhika playing the title role. It is a period flick set in the 90s with oodles of VFX included. The story revolves around Damayanthi, daughter of Rajendra Varma from the Devapura royal family, who is a doctor by profession. Her whole family is killed by her distant relative for money and the plot is about how she takes revenge after 15 to 20 years with the help of the hero and friends.

The film also stars Bhajarangi Loki, Sadhu Kokila, Tabala Nani, Mithra, Giri, Maja Talkies Pawan, Kempae Gowda, Sharan Ulthi, Karthik, Naveen Krishna, Mysore Bala, Anusha, Anjana and Veena Sundar among others in supporting roles. It also has veteran producer and Vishal’s father GK Reddy of GK Films, who will be seen playing Radhika’s dad. The film’s music is composed by RS Ganesh Narayan and cinematography is by PKH Das. Makuta VFX has been roped in to take care of the computer graphics in the film. This Kannada film will also be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam considering the universal appeal of the subject.

Besides Damayanthi, Radhika is busy with Bhairadevi. The film will be helmed by director Srijai of RX Soori fame which had Duniya Vijay in the lead. Bhairadevi has Ramesh Aravind playing the male lead. With both Ramesh Aravind and Radhika being well-known names in the Tamil and Telugu film circuits as well, Bhairadevi is made in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu languages, say sources. Radhika also has Rajendra Ponappa in her kitty.
