Tamil thriller 'Jiivi' starring Vetri to be remade in Hindi

Tamil film Jiivi, which has been made on a shoestring budget, is currently the talk of the town as it has taken both audiences and critics by surprise. The film follows an intelligent man, who decides to steal from his landlady's house, after being heartbroken by romance.

Directed by Gopinath and written by Babu Tamizh, the film stars Vetri in the lead. Karunakaran, Rohini and Mime Gopi play crucial roles in this thriller, which has been produced by the same banner which bankrolled 8 Thottakkal a couple of years ago.

Both 8 Thottakkal and Jiivi were produced by Vetri’s father. The actor has reportedly signed two more films, outside of his home banner. Jiivi has opened to good reviews, and Vetri, who is elated about the response, attributes the film’s success to its content.

In a recent media interaction, Vetri has revealed that remake offers from Bollywood have already started to pour in. “The response for Jiivi is overwhelming and we couldn’t have asked for more. Our last film 8 Thottakkal was received very well by audiences and critics but the film didn’t generate profits. We could only recover half of the investment. However, the support we got from the audience was heartening and that’s what encouraged us to pick a script like Jiivi. We’ve received inquiries for Jiivi from Bollywood and talks have already been imitated for the remake. The film might also be remade in Telugu,” Vetri told reporters.

Jiivi is currently in its second week in cinema. The film may not have raked in big numbers but Vetri believes it’s earned him a lot of love from the audience. “I know my limitations as an actor, they will support come what may,” he said in a media interaction.

Meanwhile, Vetri is currently listening to scripts. He has received an offer from a production house and the announcement is expected to be made soon.
