Tamil actor Sri, known for his performances in Vazhakku Enn 18/9, Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum, and Maanagaram, is currently under medical care, his family confirmed in a public statement. The family urged fans and the media to respect the actor’s privacy and refrain from spreading misinformation regarding his health.
Concerns about Sri’s well-being emerged after the actor appeared visibly weak and had lost significant weight. Speculation further intensified following a series of cryptic posts on his Instagram account. Recently, his co-star Saniya Iyappan revealed that Sri had become reclusive and that no one had been able to contact him for some time. He did not participate in the promotional activities of his last film Irugapatru, she revealed.
In their official statement, Sri’s family appealed for restraint, saying: “We also appeal to media platforms to remove any objectionable content or interviews based on his current condition and to respect his personal space as he focuses on recovery.”
The statement was shared online by director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who directed Sri in Maanagaram, his debut film. Sri was last seen in the 2023 film Irugapatru, where he starred alongside Vikram Prabhu, Shraddha Srinath, and Saniya Iyappan.
Following news of the actor’s deteriorating health, several individuals claiming to be his friends gave interviews alleging that Sri had been sidelined by production houses and denied payment for his work. In one of his own social media posts, Sri also stated that he had not received the full remuneration for his role in Irugapatru.
However, the family has distanced itself from these claims. “We do not endorse any views expressed by certain individuals in interviews and deny the same completely,” they stated.
SR Prabhu, the producer of Irugapatru, responded to the allegations recently. He expressed concern for Sri and said that their priority was his recovery. He also said that they have been trying to reach out to him for a long time. “It is so unfortunate that there is so much speculation forming around it. But reaching Shri and bring him back to good health will be the first priority. Would highly appreciate if anyone can help us achieve that!!” (sic) he said.
