Suriya-starrer 24, the time-travel thriller, has earned over $ 1 million at the North American box-office, particularly in U.S and Canada.

According to trade sources, the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film has raked in over $ 1 million in just three days since its release in North America, making it the best opening for a Suriya-starrer overseas. Even though the film opened to mixed reports in India, the reports didn't seem to have any affect at the ticket window in North America, where Suriya’s films have always had decent opening. However, with 24, it has created a new record.

In India, especially in Tamil Nadu, the film has reportedly grossed INR 15 crore in its opening weekend. Even though the numbers haven’t been so great, trade sources believe that there hasn't been a major drop in the footfall over the weekend which is a good sign. Directed by Vikram Kumar, the film was lauded for its time-travel angle; however, was subsequently snubbed over its romantic portion which most critics and audiences alike felt could've been avoided.

It’s really important for the film to hold its ground this week in cinemas to enter the profit zone. Produced by Suriya under his home banner, 2D Entertainment, the film also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menon.
