Suriya-Mohanlal starrer 'Kaappaan' to release on August 30?

Actor Suriya is busy dubbing for Selvaraghavan’s NGK – Nandha Gopala Krishnan that is slated for release on May 31. The actor is also busy shooting for his other project, KV Anand’s Kaappaan.

The latest is that Kaappaan might be released on August 30, which will be a 4-day extended weekend, with September 2nd being Vinayakar Chathurthi. An official confirmation from the makers is awaited.

In a recent video interview, actors Mohanlal and Suriya, who have pivotal roles in the film, revealed the characters that they are playing. Suriya plays an NSG Commando, who is a part of the armed forces of the country specially designated to protect the Prime Minister while Mohanlal plays the Prime Minister of the country and Arya will be seen playing his son.

While Sayyeshaa plays the female lead, those in the supporting cast includes Boman Irani, Samuthirakani, Prem, Cirag Jani, and Mayilsami. The film has been scripted jointly by director KV Anand and veteran writer Pattukottai Prabhakar with the former wielding the megaphone.

Harris Jayaraj is the music composer for this flick with Abhinandan Ramanujam roped in as the cinematographer with editing done by Anthony. It may be mentioned here that MS Prabhu had worked as the cinematographer for the first schedule but had to opt out for various reasons and was replaced by Abhinandan Ramanujam.

After wrapping up Kaappaan, the actor is all set to commence work on his next yet-untitled project – dubbed as Suriya 38 - with director Sudha Kongara, who rose to fame with R Madhavan starrer Irudhi Suttru. The film will be co-produced by Oscar-winning Guneet Monga, who is foraying into Tamil with this project.

Meanwhile, Suriya's production venture, Uriyadi 2, a Political-thriller  and the sequel of 2016 blockbuster hit Uriyadi is also gearing up for an April release. Vijay Kumar, who directed as well played the lead in the first part, will return to return his role in the sequel as well.
