Written by : Digital Native

A few days ago it was confirmed that director Vikram Kumar’s next would be a Nani starrer. The project has been finalized and an interesting development is that it will also feature Siddharth in the star cast. But the star will be playing the main antagonist. Sources in the know say that Siddharth accepted the role as it would give him enough scope for performance.

To be titled yet, the film will belong to the horror genre, say sources. Interestingly, Vikram Kumar had directed Yavarum Nalam / 13 B, a horror flick which turned out to be a smash hit in 2009. This film starred R Madhavan and Neetu Chandra as the lead pair.

Nani’s last release was Devadas in which he got to share the screen space with the veteran hero Nagarjuna. The film, directed by Sriram Adittya, received lukewarm response at the box office despite having an ensemble of stars in the cast. Following this, Nani is under compulsion to come up with a huge hit and is banking his hopes on Jersey followed by the Vikram Kumar directorial.

Vikram Kumar’s last film release was the Akhil Akkineni starrer Hello. The film was bankrolled by Nagarjuna under his banner Annapurna Studios. Anup Rubens had composed music for this venture with PS Vinod cranking the camera and Pawin Pudi editing it. While Akhil and Kalyani Priyadarshan played the lead pair, those in the supporting roles were Jagapati Babu, Ramya Krishna, Ajay, Satya Krishnan, Anish Kuruvilla, Vennela Kishore and Posani Krishna Murali. The film hit the silver screens on December 22 last year.

According to trade reports, Hello managed to gross Rs 25.05 crore worldwide within four days of its release, with a distributor share of Rs 14.38 crore. The collections from Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in four days were approximately Rs 15.75 crore with a share of Rs 10.1 crore. On completion, the film collected a share of Rs 17 to 20 crore share approximately.
