Veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad’s son Anoop Sathyan is following on the footstep of his illustrious dad and is all set to debut as director. The youngster has reportedly roped in the veteran actors Suresh Gopi and Shobana to play the lead roles in his film. In an earlier interview to the Times of India, Anoop said that they have liked the story and are excited about the film, which is a family drama set in Chennai.

Kalyani Priyadarshan has been signed up to play a pivotal role in the project. Earlier, Nazriya Nazim was in talks for the role but for certain reasons, she could not take up the offer and it eventually went to Kalyani. Dulquer Salmaan may be signed up for this project as well, say sources.

The last time Suresh Gopi and Shobana came together in a film was for Makalkku in 2005. Another veteran actor Urvashi is also part of the cast. The groundwork for this film is progressing well and the shooting will commence in Chennai next month.

Anoop Sathyan will not only be wielding the megaphone for this venture but also scripting it. Anoop has earlier directed the award-winning documentary A Dream Called America.

Plans are on to release this film next year. The technical crew includes Alphonse for music and Mukesh Muraleedharan for cinematography. More details about the film are expected to be out soon.

Besides this film, Suresh Gopi, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, has Lelam 2 in his kitty. The film is being directed by Nithin Renji Panicker and has been written by his dad, Renji Panicker. Lelam 2 is the sequel to Suresh Gopi's hit family drama Lelam, directed by Joshiy. Sresh Gopi’s son Gokul will also be a part of the film. The first part had featured late actor MG Soman, Siddique, N F Varghese, Nandini, Maniyanpilla Raju, Vijayakumar, Spadikam George, and Kaviyoor Renuka in supporting roles. Reports are that Lelam 2 will be about the enmity between two liquor business groups, the Aanakkattil family and the Kadayadi family.
