Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar’s Rustum was supposed to hit the marquee on June 14 and was heading for a box office clash with Upendra’s I Love You. However, this clash has been averted as Rustum’s release has been postponed to June 28. Reports say that the postponement is due to delay in the computer graphics work.

Rustum is produced by Jayanna and Bhogendra under the banner Jayanna Combines. Shraddha Srinath has been roped in to play the female lead while Mayuri will be seen as Shiva Rajkumar’s sister. A romantic action entertainer, Rustum will have Anoop Seelin scoring the music and Mahendra Simha wielding the camera. According to reports, Shiva Rajkumar plays a cop in this flick and will be sporting a new look. Fans can expect to see some daredevilry stunts in the film.

Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi will be seen playing an important role in this flick. The actor, in an interview to Indian Express, recalled that Shivanna wanted to launch him in Sandalwood when he was 18 years old but at that time he had to politely decline the offer as he was set on pursuing his studies abroad. But when director Ravi Varma came up with the role in Rustum, Vivek Oberoi said that he initially refused but agreed immediately when he came to know that Shivanna was the lead star.

He was quoted as saying, “Shivanna had offered me a role even before I became an actor. At 18, I had visited Bengaluru to meet my aunt. She was a good family friend of Shivanna’s. When he saw me, he said that I was handsome and expressed his wish to launch me in Kannada. He had wanted me to play his brother’s role in a film. I felt honoured, but had to decline the offer since I was going to the USA to pursue my masters in films. So, this time when I was offered a role alongside him, I jumped at it.”
