Director Selvaraghavan-Santhanam film Mannavan Vanthanadi has been in the cans for a long time now. Reports are that there are some legal issues which need to be sorted out before the film hits the marquee.

With producer Varun Manian of Radiance Media issuing a show cause notice to the film’s co-producer Sushant Prasad, things have become complicated for Mannavan Vanthanadi’s release.

Reports are that Sushant Prasad had tried to sell the rights of the movie to a third party owing to some financial difficulties and Varun Manian’s claim is that his production had the complete authority to deal with such matters.

In Radiance Media’s show cause notice to Sushant Prasad it has been stated: “All rights including negative rights over the film being produced by M/s Film Department and Mr Sushant Prasad titled “Mannavan Vanthanadi” starring actor Mr Santhanam directed by Mr Selva Raghavan are only with our client M/s Radiance Media Pvt Ltd and no one else has any rights over the film.”

The Madras High Court had earlier granted an interim injunction refraining Sushant’s Film Department from theatrically releasing and broadcasting the film. The interim order also stayed the production house from distributing the rights of the film.

Mannavan Vanthanadi is a romantic drama starring Santhanam and Aaditi Pohankar as the lead pair. Music for this flick is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while the cinematography is by Loganathan, and editing is by GK Prasanna.

The shooting of Mannavan Vanthanadi began nearly three years ago and sadly it still remains in the cans. Director Selvaraghavan is now busy directing the Suriya starrer NGK aka Nanada Gopalan Kumaran. NGK stars Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi as heroines, and has Meera, Jagapathi Babu and Bala Singh playing the supporting roles.

Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the tunes for the film and Siva Kumar Vijayan is cranking the camera with Praveen KL in charge of the editing.
