Sathyaraj lands a crucial role in Sundar C’s 'Sanghamitra'

If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, veteran actor Sathyaraj might have landed a key role in Sundar C’s mega budget epic drama Sanghamitra.

The project was launched amid high expectations earlier this year in Cannes International Film Festival. However, the project has faced setbacks since then and it all began when Shruti Haasan, who was roped in to play the titular role of a fierce warrior princess, walked out of the project for various reasons. With the makers still busy putting together the project, an official announcement regarding the final cast and crew is eagerly awaited.

Tipped to be made on a budget of Rs. 150 crore, the project will star Arya and Jayam Ravi, and the latter had said that he will be required to beef up for the role. Going the Baahubali way, the project is believed to be made as two parts over the course of the next 18 months. As the makers continue to find a replacement for Shruti Haasan, rumours have made the rounds that Hansika might join hands with Sundar, with whom she had already worked in a few films over the years.

To be bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films, the film will have music by AR Rahman, who is kicked to be part of this project. At Cannes, he had said, “It’s a very ambitious film. Six months back when I heard just 30 minutes of the narration, it was good enough for me to come on board.”
