When actor-filmmaker M Sasikumar tweeted a pic of him with director SS Rajamouli with the caption: “Had a nice meeting with @ssrajamouli thank u sir”, speculations began to go up that he may be a part of the latter’s multi-starrer RRR.

Enquiries, however, revealed that Sasikumar was not roped in for the project but went to have a discussion with the ace director about his upcoming film. Sasikumar is reportedly keen on making a period flick and discussed it with Rajamouli, undoubtedly the king of historicals after his Baahubali franchise turned out to be a massive success.

Sasikumar is apparently in talks with Vijay to play the lead role in the historical that he is to direct and this project may materialise if the star agrees to join the star cast. In the meantime, Sasikumar has a bunch of acting assignments that needs his attention. He is playing an important role in the Gautham Menon directorial Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta, for which he is shooting right now. His Naadodigal 2, directed by Samuthirakani, is also in the making and is likely to hit the silver screens later this year. According to sources, the film is not a sequel but will have the flavour of Naadodigal, with love and friendship being the recurring theme.

Vijay on the other hand is busy with the AR Murugadoss directorial Sarkar, which is scheduled for release this Deepavali.

Sasikumar made his debut in the Tamil film industry a decade ago with Subramaniapuram, which he had directed, produced and acted in. The film was a commercial and critical success, and went on to win several awards including the Filmfare Best Tamil Director Award, the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Tamil and Vijay Award for Best Director. Sasikumar has acted in and directed and produced several ventures till date and is a bankable star. His last release was Asuravadham, in which he had played the lead role.
