Santhanam’s Dhilukku Dhuddu strikes gold at the box office

Written by : TNM

Santhanam has proved his mettle as a comedian in several films over the years and his recent transformation into a hero has also turned successful for the actor who is no longer interested in playing a comic sidekick to heroes.

The success of his latest film Dhilukku Dhuddu, a spoof on the horror genre, has proved yet again why one needs to take Santhanam seriously for he has the ability to deliver a blockbuster without relying on anyone else. The film, according to trade sources, has reportedly grossed around Rs. 13 crore in its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu.

Apparently, the four-day long Eid weekend helped the film attract audiences in hordes to cinemas across all centres. Although Santhanam’s previous two outings as a solo hero didn’t turn out to be quite fruitful, Dhilukku Dhuddu turned out to be an exception. At this rate, trade sources predict, the film might end up as the most profitable film in Santhanam’s career since he became a hero.

According to the makers, the film will be dubbed in Telugu and talks are already on for the Hindi remake with leading banners. Also, director Rambala and Santhanam are set to team up for another project which might also be bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films.
