Samyuktha Menon plays the baddie in Tovino’s ‘Kalki’

Written by : Digital Native

Tovino Thomas and Samyuktha Menon played the lead pair in Theevandi and they are now sharing the screen space in Kalki. Interestingly, Samyuktha plays the antagonist in this action entertainer. The shooting of Kalki was wrapped up recently and it is currently in the post-production mode. Reports are that it will hit the marquee on August 8.

Tovino will be seen playing a police officer in this film. It may be noted that this is not the first time that Tovino would be donning the khaki as he had done it for the Prithviraj starrer Ezra, though it was a cameo appearance.

On Tovino’s role in Kalki, the film’s producer Prasobh Krishna had told in an interview to the Times of India earlier, “His role is similar to Mammootty’s Inspector Balram that has a cult following. He will be seen throughout he movie as a cop. However, it doesn’t deal with investigations or anything but about a few incidents that happen in a place,” and added that the title Kalki was finalised because, “Kalki is said to be the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the harbinger of destruction. It’s in line with a few character traits of Tovino’s role but the similarity ends there.”

Wielding the megaphone for Kalki is Praveen Prabharam and he has jointly penned the script with Sujin Sujathan. Handling the cinematography for this film is Gautham Sankar and Jakes Bejoy is composing music for the film. Kalki is bankrolled by Suvin K Krishna and Prasobh Krishna under the banner Little Big Films.

Tovino Thomas is on a roll with three of his films – Virus, And the Oscar Goes to… and Luca turning out to be big hits. Incidentally, all these three films released in the month of June.
