Written by : TNM

Director Samuthirakani has signed up Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar to play the female lead in his upcoming Malayalam film. Titled Aakasha Mittayee, the film is a remake of the Tamil film Appa, directed by Samuthirakani. The actor will be seen playing Jayaram’s wife in it. In fact, this family drama will have Varu play a submissive wife.

Speaking about her role in Aakasha Mittayee to the Times of India, the actor said: “It's a family drama and I will be seen as Jayaram sir's wife in the film. I have been his huge fan and I am excited to work with him.”

Varu also revealed that the director has made a lot changes to the script to suit the Malayali audiences. With the film not being an exact remake, the actor hopes that she will have a lot of scope to come out with her best performance. The film’s shooting has begun already and Varu will be joining the unit from April 1 onwards. Kalabhavan Shajohn will be seen playing a crucial role in Aakasha Mittayee.

It may be mentioned here that Asha Sharath was initially considered for the role, but she was replaced by Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar.
