‘Saamy Square’ trailer out: Looks like this Vikram sequel will be heavy on action

Written by : TNM Staff

The trailer of Vikram’s sequel with director Hari, Saamy Square, was released on Sunday. Vikram, who will be reprising his cop role from Saamy that came out in 2003, will be seen pairing up with Keerthy Suresh.

Going by the two-minute trailer, looks like the film will have a good number of stunt sequences. There’s also no dearth of knuckle-cracking, skull-bashing men delivering loud and heavy punch dialogues.

Directed by Hari, the film is being produced by Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to compose for this film.

The first-look motion poster of Vikram’s Saamy Square was released on May 17. From the motion poster and the trailer, we get a fair idea that the film will be set in New Delhi and Tirunelveli.

The film also stars Bobby Simha, Prabhu Ganesan and Soori in lead roles. A Venkatesh is wielding the camera and VT Vijayan is editing the film.

Saamy, starring Vikram and Trisha was a blockbuster when it released in 2003. While actor Kota Srinivasa Rao played the antagonist in Saamy, Bobby Simha has been roped in to play the villain in Saamy Square. The actor seems to be sporting an aged look similar to his character in Jigarthanda.

Saamy was remade in Telugu in 2004 as Lakshmi Narasimha. It was also remade in Bengali as Barood (2004), Ayya (2005) in Kannada and as Policegiri (2013) in Hindi starring Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai.

Saamy Square will hit screens on May 26. Vikram was last seen in Vijay Chander’s Sketch. He is currently working with Gautham Menon on Dhruva Natchathiram. His last collaboration with Hari was in Arul that came out in 2004.

Keerthy Suresh recently made heads turn with her role in Mahanati/Nadigayar Thilagam. In addition to Saamy 2, she also has Sandakozhi 2 and an untitled film with Vijay. Bobby Simha was last seen in Thiruttu Payale 2 and has two Malayalam films in the pipeline.
