The release of the much expected film RRR will reportedly be postponed. The SS Rajamouli directorial is a multi-starrer with Jr NTR and Ram Charan playing the lead roles along with a bevy of other actors.

The makers had initially announced that the film would hit the screens on July 30 of next year after wrapping up the shooting schedule by March 2020. However, now, due to big breaks in between the shooting schedule, the production process is getting delayed, which is hampering with the release plans for RRR. Earlier, shooting was put on hold after both the lead actors sustained injuries on set. More recently, director Rajamouli was in London for the special screening of Baahubali: the Beginning, halting shooting again.

It should also be noted that the second female lead has yet to be confirmed for the project.

“Rajamouli is a perfectionist and always goes through the shots at the end of each day. If he does not like it, he will do a reshoot, but will never ever compromise. In this film too, he wants to reshoot some scenes and there is a lot left to do, so the film may not release in 2020 as planned. With all these breaks, the director asked the producer not to talk about the release date until he comes to a suitable conclusion,” a source told the Deccan Chronicle.

While Ram Charan plays the role of Alluri Seetharamaraju, Jr NTR will be seen as Komaram Bheem. Both of them play freedom fighters in this fictional drama that is set in the pre-Independence era. Alia Bhatt will be seen playing the role of Sita in it. Both she and Ajay Devgn will be making their debut in the south Indian film circuit with this film.

As for the technical crew roped in for the project, MM Keeravani is on board to compose the tunes and KK Senthil Kumar for cinematography. A Sreekar Prasad has been roped in for editing. The film is being bankrolled by DVV Dhanayya under his banner DVV Entertainments on a budget of Rs 300 crores. Tamil actor and director Samuthirakani has also been signed on for a role.
