Director Rosshan Andrrews is reportedly going to work with actor Nivin Pauly again, after their upcoming film Kayamkulam Kochunni has released. It is believed to be a thriller penned by Rosshan’s favourite scriptwriter duo Bobby and Sanjay.

The director seems upbeat about Kayamkulam Kochunni. In an interview to the Decccan Chronicle, he said, “The historical genre is something I have not touched. It was Sanjay who asked me to read up on Kayamkulam Kochunni and after I finished, I was intrigued as a filmmaker. There was romance, treachery, betrayal and friendship, which I felt was the right mix for a commercial film.”

Kayamkulam Kochunni is a film on the legendary highwayman by the same name, who lived during the early 19th century. He was a Robin Hood type thief who stole from the rich to feed the poor. Apart from Nivin Pauly as Kayamkulam Kochunni, there is also an extended cameo by veteran actor Mohanlal who plays the role of Ithikara Pakki.

The cast also includes Priya Anand, Priyanka Thimmesh, Sunny Wayne and Babu Antony. The technical crew of the film includes Gopi Sunder for scoring the music with Binod Pradhan, Nirav Shah and Sudheer Palsane handling the camerawork and A Sreekar Prasad doing the editing.

The film’s post production is currently underway and it is scheduled for release soon.

A big Mohanlal fan, the filmmaker recalled instances of sneaking in on the sets of Mohanlal’s films during his schooldays to have a glimpse of the star. Now an accomplished filmmaker, he has directed the superstar in three films – Udayananu Tharam, Ividam Swargamanu and Casanova. Kayamkulam Kochunni will be their fourth film together.

Stating how important the project is to him, he added, “This is my biggest film budget-wise, making-wise and effort-wise, posing a challenge to me as a director.”
