'Richie' trailer: Nivin Pauly goes all 'punch' in Tamil debut

Written by : TNM Staff

Actor Sivakarthikeyan launched the trailer of Gautham Ramachandran's Richie, starring Nivin Pauly and Shraddha Srinath.

The clip provides an exciting glimpse of what's in store in the film. The film's promos had suggested that Nivin will be playing a rowdy in the film and the trailer shows the actor getting into the skin of the character, spitting paan, and dancing puliyaatam. And of course, beating people up.

Nivin also has the "punch" dialogues that Tamil superstars are known for: "Do you know the pain of betrayal? It never comes from enemies". There's also a "God will bless you!" that he throws around stylishly. Shraddha Srinath appears to be a journalist working on a story, probably involving Richie.

Prakash Raj is playing a priest in the film. Actor Lakshmi can also be seen in the trailer, she is followed around by a man and is later romancing him.

Although based on the Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Gautham Ramachandran has reportedly changed the story quite a bit, including the climax. The theme music scored by Ajaneesh was released soon after the audio launch of the film in Chennai this week.

In his interview to TNM, Nivin had said that he's excited but not nervous about Richie's release.

"I’m not nervous, only excited about doing a Tamil film. I don’t feel any pressure as I am only concentrating on giving a good quality film. The post production, music, sounds- everything have to be in sync with the film. They should not lag, but be engaging and moving. These are certain factors that we have been working on during post production. We have been editing and shuffling the scenes. We are happy with the result and I’m not worried about the film. There’s no point in feeling any pressure. The focus should instead be on delivering a quality film. The music and sound treatment is very different in Richie, so is the making technique," he'd said.

Richie will be Nivin Pauly's first straight Tamil film. The star is widely popular in Tamil Nadu, thanks to the success of Premam. But will he be believable as a Tamilian, having dubbed in his own voice? That question will be answered on December 8 when the film releases.
