Reel and real life of actor Vijay is being questioned in the social media after Kaththi

The News Minute | October 24, 2014 | 5.15 pm ISTTamil actor Vijay’s Kaththi movie was released on Wednesday after much controversy. The movie is based on a fight of a social activist against an MNC - a Coke owned company - that depletes ground water and tries to snatch agricultural land from the small farmers. The lead role is of the social activist Jeevanandham played by Vijay. It portrays the plight of small scale farmers in today’s world. Vijay plays the role similar to that of a messiah. However, the real life and reel life of Vijay is being questioned in the social media. Read: Is 'Kaththi' unrealistic and preachy?The forty-year-old actor had in 2002 signed a contract with Coca Cola and agreed to be its brand ambassador in Tamil Nadu. In 2009 the contract was widened and he was made the brand ambassador of Coca Cola products. The product's advertisements starring the actor had been very famous in television. Coca Cola had also sponsored for the promos of few of Vijay's movies. Currently, however, he is not the brand ambassador of Coca Cola.People in Facebook and Twitter are questioning the actor’s ethics by doing something in real life and doing something almost opposite in real.This photograph is extensively being shared in social media questioning the actor's conduct. The News Minute spoke to Vijay's father, S.A. Chandrasekhar, who is also a film director. "I have still not been able to watch the movie but, it is getting good reviews from the people. It is a massive hit after Vijay's Thalaiva," he said. However, when asked about the controversy he said that he was not in a position to make any comment because he has not watched the movie.The controversy has raised a debate whether film stars should only do such roles in films that are in line with what they do in reality.
