Written by : TNM

Ramesh Aravind’s 100th film, Pushpaka Vimana, had a very successful box office run earlier this year seems to have run into copyright troubles.

The film, which was also premiered on a television channel recently, is now facing legal action from Kross Pictures and Kross Television India, which claim to hold the remake rights of the Korean film Miracle in Cell No. 7, on which Pushpaka Vimana is allegedly based.

The complainants have filed a case in the Bombay High Court alleging that the Kannada film amounts to infringement of their copyright.

However, Pushpaka Vimana’s director S Ravindranath has claimed that the film was not inspired by one, but four movies. He has said that he has drawn inspiration from Life is Beautiful, Miracle in Cell No 7, I am Sam and Pursuit of Happiness. The director also said that he had given credit to all the four directors in the title card.

Produced by Pawan Wadeyar, Vikhyath, Sukruth Devendra, Deepak Krishna, Deepak Kishore and Devanth under the banners of Vikhyath Chitra Productions and Pawan Wadeyar Film Factory, Pushpaka Vimana starred Ramesh Aravind, Rachita Ram, Yuvina Parthavi and featured a cameo by Juhi Chawla.
