Rakul Preet’s role in NTR biopic revealed

Written by : Digital Native

Reports surfaced a few weeks ago that Rakul Preet Singh would be joining the sets of the NTR biopic but there was no clarity about her role. It has finally been confirmed that she will be playing the role of legendary actor Sridevi in the biopic. NTR and Sridevi had shared screen space in 14 films and it cemented the latter’s career in the film industry strongly.

Confirming the news, Rakul’s spokesperson has been quoted by Mid-day as saying, “Rakul would love to do the role as she’s a big Sridevi fan. But she hasn’t discussed the details of the film yet with the team, as she’s busy shooting for four films. She needs to figure out her dates for the biopic.” According to reports, Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor were in contention for the role and it eventually went to Rakul Preet.

The shooting for the NTR biopic went on the floors early last month and is progressing at a good pace. The filmmakers intend to release it for Sankranthi next year and are working hard to meet this deadline. One of the biggest reasons to have this biopic released for Sankranthi is that the election code of conduct will come into force later that month and it will not be possible to release it until after the elections.

Directed by Krish J, the film is bankrolled by N Balakrishna, who plays the title role in the film, along with Vishnu Induri and Sai Korrapati. The star cast also includes Keerthy Suresh, Mohan Babu and Sumanth, who play Savitri, SV Ranga Rao and A Nageswara Rao respectively. Rana Daggubati will be seen playing the current Andhra chief minister and NTR’s son-in-law N Chandrababu Naidu. The star recently met the CM in preparation for the film. The star said that he would not copy the chief minister to the core but is currently watching videos from the archives that would help him get into the skin of the character easily.
