The News Minute | August 5, 2014 | 11:22 am ISTWhen Raju, the Indian elephant who was kept in captivity for 50 years, was rescued last month, he shed tears of liberation and relief- from the spiked shackles that tore into his flesh to the constant abuse and beatings. According to a report in Daily Mail, earlier Raju was "forced to hold out his trunk and beg for a few coins from passers-by – surviving only on plastic and paper for food". Wildlife SOS rescued Raju from the torture in Uttar Pradesh.
