Rajinikanth's iconic movie Baasha to re-release on Dec 12

Written by : TNM

After 20 years, Rajinikanth’s mega blockbuster Baasha is getting spruced up as it is digitized and re-released once again on December 12, 2016 on the occasion of the Super Star’s 66th birthday.

The mega-hit Baasha was a trendsetter in the nineties and was the first of many films that showed the hero in a ‘negative’ role, though not throughout the film.

Baasha helmed by Suresh Krissna was released in 1995 and ran for 368 days. It grossed record collections and went on to become a massive hit, in which Rajini played an auto driver with a deadly flashback.

The Super Star became an overnight rage among the auto drivers of Tamil Nadu — and his punch line ‘Naan oru dhadavai sonna, nooru dhadavai sonna maadhri!’ was immortalised.

The actor is currently busy shooting for his next 2.0, the sequel to his super hit film Enthiran. Helmed by director Shankar, Akshay Kumar is playing the lead antagonist in the film. Amy Jackson is the female lead and 2.0 will hit the screens next year.
