Rajinikanth to replace Shah Rukh as tourism ambassador of Malacca?

Written by : TNM

The Baadshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, was appointed as the Tourism Ambassador for Malacca in 2008 and was awarded the prestigious Datukship in 2011.

However, the Tourism Ministry now feels that there should be a change and it’s time to appoint a new Tourism Ambassador to bring in tourists.

Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat, the Tourism Minister of Malacca revealed that the ministry is considering signing up Rajinikanth as its new ambassador and will most likely initiate talks. Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz during his speech in Dewan Rakyat told MP Sim Tong Hin (DAP-Kota Melaka), “We can contact him to be our tourism ambassador.” When MP Sim was asked to give his opinion, he is reported to have told, "He is very famous and Shah Rukh Khan is not very effective.”

A major portion of Rajinikanth’s Kabali was shot in Malaysia and the star enjoys a huge popularity in that region. This is one of the biggest reasons for the Tourism Ministry considering him for the role. Malacca is a state in Malaysia that is situated in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula close to the Strait of Malacca.
