The release date for Pa Ranjith's second film with Rajinikanth is finally here. Wunderbar Films, the producer of Kaala made the announcement on Twitter at 7 pm on Saturday. A new poster of the film was also released.

The highly anticipated Kaala will release on April 27.

The film is Rajini's second collaboration with Ranjith, who delighted fans with Kabali in 2016. Kaala is about the oppression of Tamil people in Mumbai and Rajini is reportedly playing a don in the film. In Kabali, too, Rajinikanth had played a don but the film was set in Malaysia and revolved around the lives of Malaysian Tamils.

Kaala also stars Huma Qureshi, Nana Patekar, Anjali Patil, Sukanya, Samuthirakani and others. The film has music by Santosh Narayanan. There was much uncertainty about the film's release date after it was announced that 2.O, directed by Shankar, which also stars Rajinikanth, will not release in January as planned. 2.O, the sequel to the science fiction film Enthiran was also speculated to release in April.

Rajinikanth would want to avoid a box-office clash between the two films and fans were therefore left wondering in which film they'd get to see the superstar on screen first. After

Rajinikanth announced his political entry, fans have been speculating on his career as an actor. Will he call it quits or will he sign more films? As of now, the Rajini fan clubs are actively promoting their star's image as a future political leader.
