The groundwork for Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham began several months ago with its shooting scheduled to begin in December this year. A high budget movie that would cost its producers Rs 100 crore, this historical is the one of the most anticipated projects in Mollywood in recent times. Top technicians from India and abroad have been roped for the film.

According to latest reports, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham will have three music composers. Director Priyadarshan is said to be keen on experimenting with music in this period flick and will be roping in top music directors. However, there is no clarity on who they are, while some reports suggest that two of them could be Ilayaraja and MG Sreekumar.

Sabu Cyril, who has worked with Priyadarshan in several films, has found a berth in Marakkar as well and he will be the production designer. Reports say that huge sets are being built at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad where a major portion of the film will be shot.

While Mohanlal will be playing the title role, the film will have his son Pranav making a cameo appearance. If reports are true, Pranav will be seen as the younger version of Marakkar. Further, Priyadarshan’s daughter Kalyani, who made her acting debut in a Tollywood film, will be seen doing a role in the film, marking her debut in the Malayalam film industry.

The film also has Prabhu, Suneil Shetty, Manju Warrier, Arjun Sarja, Mukesh and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles. Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is based on the true story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, who is most popular of the Marakkars. The film will have extensive sea warfare sequences, which will be the film’s highlight. The film will be produced jointly by Antony Perumbavoor, Santhosh T Kuruvilla and CJ Roy under their respective banners.
