Prithviraj joins the sets of ‘Pathinettam Padi’

The upcoming Malayalam film Pathinettam Padi just got bigger with actor Prithviraj joining the sets. The film was announced with Mammootty roped in to play an important role and we hear that he will be seen as Stanford professor John Abraham Palackal. The crux of this story falls on his character, which is why he decided to take up the offer, we hear. The still of the star from the movie was released sometime ago and it looked every bit stylish.

While we had reported some time ago that Prithviraj will be joining the sets of this film, the latest is that scenes involving him are being canned. He will be playing a cameo in this film. There are reports that Unni Mukundan has also been roped in for a cameo but he is yet to join the sets of Pathinettam Padi.

Also, Saniya Iyappan, Ahaana Krishna, Biju Sopanam and Maala Parvathy will be seen in supporting roles. Fourteen new faces from the fourteen districts of Kerala will be making their acting debut with Pathinettam Padi. The film will also mark the debut of actor and writer Shanker Ramakrishnan as director and it is bankrolled by August Cinemas. Interestingly, Prithviraj had co-produced films under this banner until he started his own production house.

The film’s technical crew mainly comprises of debutants with Sudeep Elamon cranking the camera, KH Kaashif composing the music and Bhuvan Sreenivas taking care of its editing.

Shanker Ramakrishnan has earlier directed a segment in the anthology Kerala Café, called Island Express featuring Prithviraj and Kani Kusruthi. He then wrote the historical film Urumi, directed by Santosh Sivan, with Prithvi playing the lead. Another film Shanker wrote is the experimental Netholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla with Fahadh Faasil in the lead. The last film he wrote is My Story, starring Prithvi and Parvathy.

With the shooting of Pathinettam Padi reaching the final stages, we can expect the film’s release date to be announced soon.
