Prabhudheva’s ‘Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja’ starts rolling

Written by : TNM

Actor-filmmaker Prabhudheva, last seen on screen in Tamil horror-comedy Devi, has begun work on his next project Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja, which marks his return to direction in Kollywood after six years. His last Tamil directorial project was Vishal-starrer Vedi, a remake of Telugu film, Souryam.

On Thursday, Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja went on the floors and a few scenes starring the film’s leading lady Sayyeshaa were canned. The film, to be produced by Prabhudheva himself, stars Vishal and Karthi as the male protagonists and this is the first time they have joined hands for a project.

The film has been written by late Tamil writer-filmmaker Subash, best for helming Vijayakanth-starrer Sathriyan and penning the story of Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express. At the launch of the film earlier this year, Prabhudheva had told reporters he would like to dedicate the film to his friend Subash: “When I met him last year, he told me he wasn’t sure if he would be around to see the film. I told him everything is going to be alright. Unfortunately, he left us even before we could start the project. I would like to dedicate this film to him.”

The film will have music by Harris Jayaraj and the hit composer has already commenced working on the tunes. Harris and Prabhudheva had travelled to London last month to work on the film’s music. Apparently, they recorded two songs and plan to shoot them in the first schedule. At the film’s launch, Prabhudheva had also said that the film will feature Karthi and Vishal at loggerheads as they try to woo the same girl.
