After delivering two back to back blockbusters with Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, SS Rajamouli’s long-awaited multi-starrer with Ram Charan Teja and Junior NTR in the lead — RRR — was launched on Sunday.

The film’s pooja was graced by veteran director K Raghavendra Rao, who is Rajamouli’s guru, and by Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan’s father.

This is the first time that both Ram Charan and Jr NTR are working together in a film. While Jr NTR and Rajamouli have teamed up earlier for three films, including their debut Student No.1, this is the second time that Rajamouli is collaborating with Ram Charan after their hit Magadheera.

Though RRR was announced last year, the film couldn’t go on the floors immediately because both Ram Charan and Jr NTR had committed to finishing their other films—Vinaya Vidheya Rama and Aravinda Sametha respectively.

Aravinda Sametha, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, released this October and had a successful run at the box office. Vinaya Vidheya Rama is yet to be released. Co-incidentally, like RRR, this film is also produced by DVV Entertainments.

Recently, a one-minute long teaser of the film was released which confirmed that it is an action thriller with Ram Charan playing the angry young man.

Earlier this year, both Ram Charan and Jr NTR flew to the US for a test photo shoot. While the male leads have been announced, the women co-stars are yet to be finalised by the team. The industry buzz is that the film crew is looking for Bollywood actors to star alongside Ram Charan and Jr NTR.

RRR is produced under the DVV Entertainments banner by DVV Dhanayya. Music for the film will be composed by MM Keeravani, but details about the other crew, including cinematographer and editor, has not been disclosed. The film is likely to release for the 2020 Sankranti festival, as per reports.
