Veteran Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal, who has predominantly played character and comic roles over his three decade long career, is all set to make his Tamil debut with Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru, a film based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath – founder of the budget airline Air Deccan.

Even though the makers are yet to make an official announcement about the inclusion Paresh Rawal in the cast, some reports suggest that he’s already completed for his portion in the film, which is being directed by Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Sutru fame. The project also stars Aparna Balamurali and veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu in crucial roles.

Being produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, the film marks the southern debut of well-known Bollywood producer Guneet Monga, who will be co-producing this project. The film, which marks the first-time collaboration of Suriya and Sudha, has music by GV Prakash Kumar, who has already composed all songs for the album.

Apparently, Sudha had pitched the story of Soorarai Pottru nearly three years ago but Suriya couldn’t immediately give his nod because he was occupied with multiple commitments. If everything goes as planned, Soorarai Pottru could be the third release for Suriya this year, who already has Kaappaan gearing up to hit the screens in August. His first release of the year was Selvaraghavan directed political thriller NGK.

Suriya is expected to resume shooting for Soorarai Pottru very soon. The makers recently completed the first schedule in Chandigarh where they extensively shot some scenes and important action sequences under the supervision of international stunt choreographer Greg Powell, who is known for his work in films such as Skyfall and Bourne Ultimatum.

The Singam star also has a project with director Siva in the pipeline and it is most likely to go on the floors later this year.

Kaappaan audio launch recently took place in Chennai which was graced by Superstar Rajinikanth, Director Shankar and other celebrities. The film also stars Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, Arya, Sayyeshaa along with Bollywood actor Boman Irani, Prem, Cirag Jani, Mayilsami and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.
