Oopiri director exits Nagarjuna’s son’s film

Written by : TNM

Vamshi Paidipally, fresh off the success of bilingual drama Oopiri, was supposed to team up with Nagarjuna’s younger son Akhil for a new project. The project was planned even before Oopiri had released and Vamshi was kicked about the opportunity. However, we’ve learnt from trusted sources that the film might not materialize as Vamshi has walked out, following some disagreement with actor-producer Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Apparently, Vamshi was asked to direct the Telugu remake of Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani with Akhil, and the former wasn’t really keen on the idea. It turns out that Vamshi was not excited about directing a remake because his recent release, Oopiri, was itself a remake of a French film, The Intouchables. Hence, he wasn’t interested in working on another remake immediately.

Vamshi, according to a source, was looking forward to working on his own script but Nagarjuna was hell bent on getting the remake made. Since both of them couldn’t arrive at an amicable agreement, Vamshi walked out of the project.

Vamshi now plans to rope in a leading star to work on his own script. Nagarjuna, meanwhile, is on the lookout for a suitable director to work on the remake.
