Official first-look promo of Mammootty-starrer 'Peranbu' out

The official first-look promo of director Ram’s upcoming film, Peranbu, was released on Sunday. Starring Mammootty, Anjali and Thanga Meengal fame Sadhana in lead roles, the film has created quite a buzz with its international film festival premiers.

The teaser includes details about the cast - Mammootty plays Amudhavan, Sadhana plays Paappa and Anjali plays Viji. It was earlier announced that Mammootty will play a cab driver in the movie.

The film’s music has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the official audio launch will be held on July 15.

The teaser also lists the film’s accolades; Peranbu was officially selected at International Film Festival Rotterdam and Shanghai International Film Festival. It was also the only Indian film to feature in top 20 in the Audience Award category at Rotterdam. It was nominated for NETPAC award, an award given to best Asian films.  

The teaser also has clips from screenings and audiences’ interaction with its director, Ram.   

Peranbu is a bilingual film that will release in Tamil and Malayalam.

Produced by PL Thenappan under his banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films, the film has an impressive star cast with Sarath Kumar, Anjali Ameer, Samuthirakani, Vadivukkarasi, Livingston, Suraj Venjaramood, Siddique and Aruldoss.

Anjali Ameer will be making her debut in this film. The technical crew of this film includes Vairamuthu, Karunakaran and Sumathi Ram for lyrics, Theni Eswar for cinematography and Suriya Pradhaman for editing.

Director Ram’s previous film was Tharamani that released in 2016 starring Andrea as Diya and Vasanth Ravi as Prabhunath. Ram was also seen in a pivotal role in Mysskin’s Savarakathi. His Thanga Meengal that came out in 2013 won him several awards including the 61st National Film Award and Tamil Nadu State Film Award 2013 for Best Director.
