Nivin Pauly’s 'Moothon' gets three Bollywood actors on board

Director Geethu Mohandas is upbeat over her upcoming film Moothon, which has Nivin Pauly playing the lead role. To be made and released in Hindi and Malayalam simultaneously, the director had been scouting for suitable actors to be a part of this bilingual. She has now signed up three Bollywood actors – Shashank Arora, Shobitha Dhulipala and Harish Khanna to play important roles.

The film also has Sujith Shankar, Soubin Shahir and Alencier Ley in the star cast. According to the director, Moothon is a film that will revolve around a 14-year-old boy who goes in search of his older brother.

Geethu Mohandas conducted a workshop and is pleased with the performances of the actors she had chosen to be cast in Moothon. Nivin’s character is named Mullakoya in the movie and he would be mouthing the Jeseri dialect for the first time in his career. The star underwent a lot of training to get into the skin of the character and the director is happy with the end results.

The first schedule of Moothon has been wrapped up in Mumbai and the team is gearing up for the second schedule that is due to begin in Lakshadeweep in a couple of months. Noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is penning the script for the Hindi version. National Award winning cinematographer and Geeu Mohandas’s husband Rajeev Ravi is cranking the camera for Moothon.

Geetu Mohandas had directed the film Liar's Dice, which went on to win two National Awards and was also India’s entry for the 87th Academy Awards. Incidentally, the story of Moothon had won the Global Filmmaking Award at the Sundance Film Festival last year. The film is produced by Anand L Rai under the banner Colour Yellow Productions and Eros International will be distributing it.
