Ever since the demise of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, there have been attempts by various filmmakers to make a biopic on her. Finally, it is coming from director Priyadarshini, who has revealed the title logo of her upcoming film, The Iron Lady.

Priyadarshani has announced that actor Nithya Menen will be playing Jayalalithaa in the biopic and the rest of the star cast and crew will be announced at the earliest.

The title logo was unveiled by noted director and producer AR Murugadoss on his Twitter handle. He wrote: “Extremely happy and excited to launch the Title poster of #Jayalalithaabiopic #THEIRONLADY I wish @priyadhaarshini and team for a grand success..”

The film will concentrate on Jayalalithaa’s political journey and the challenges she underwent during her tenures as the CM. It comes with the tagline: “A story of revolutionary leader.”

The poster of the film also contains a comment made by Hillary Clinton on Jayalalithaa: “She is an incomparable and strong determined leader, and she has been an embodiment of women empowerment.”

It may be mentioned here that a few weeks ago producer Vishnu Induri revealed that a biopic on Jayalalithaa will be helmed by AL Vijay. Then an announcement came from the veteran director Barathiraja that he would be helming the project which will be bankrolled by Bharadwaj. In fact, producer Bharadwaj went on to reveal that Ilayaraja would be composing the music for the Barathiraja directorial with plans on to rope in either Aishwarya Rai or Anushka Shetty to play Jayalalithaa.

Further, Trisha and Nayanthara have expressed their desire to play Jayalalithaa if her biopic ever got made.

Priyadarshini’s choice was however Nithya, seen playing powerful performances in movies such as OK Kanmani directed by Mani Ratnam.

Priyadarshini has, before this, worked as Mysskin’s associate director in several films.
