Actor Nidhhi Agerwal, who was last seen in Telugu film Mr Majnu opposite Akhil Akkineni, is all set to foray into Tamil filmdom with the upcoming yet-untitled 25th film of Jayam Ravi. To be directed by R Lakshman of Romeo Juliet and Bogan fame, the film will see Ravi play a farmer and the entire story will be set against a village backdrop.

The makers are to yet to officially announce about Nidhhi being signed, however, reliable sources from the film’s unit have already confirmed the news. Nidhhi made her acting debut a few years ago opposite Tiger Shroff in Munna Micahel and she has also worked with Chaitanya Akkineni in Savyasachi.

Talking about the film, Lakshman recently told Times of India: “Unlike in his previous 24 films, the actor will be giving it back to the society with this film. It has an agriculture-based subject, and he will be playing a farmer. There will be a social message, on the lines of Shankar sir’s films. This will not be one of those regular villages, but something like the one we see in Thiruda Thiruda,” he said.

The project, which will have music by D Imman, will go on the floors from June 15.

Meanwhile, Ravi has just wrapped up shooting for Komaali starring Kajal Aggarwal and Samyuktha Hegde. He is expected to begin work on Thani Oruvan 2 with his brother later this year.

Last year, Mohan Raja had said that the sequel will also be a social thriller. “Just like the first part, Thani Oruvan 2 will have a similar premise of a social backdrop. It’ll be an engrossing cat and mouse thriller between the protagonist and antagonist,” he had said in a statement.
