Entertainment company Netflix has acquired the rights to stream director SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and has reportedly signed a deal with its makers.

The deal was signed for $4 million (roughly Rs 25.5 crore), Livemint reported.

Writing for Livemint, Vidhi Choudhary quoted Jessica Lee, vice-president (communications), Netflix, as saying, “On the content front, we are doubling down on Indian investment to curate a compelling content library encompassing original and licensed titles. We are touching a pool of consumers with a great passion for diverse entertainment."

"We are very happy and excited to partner with Netflix. Theatrically, it’s not possible to reach all markets, but with this deal Baahubali will reach 192 countries seamlessly,” Shobu Yarlagadda, co-founder and CEO of Arka Mediaworks, told Livemint.

Shobu was one of the producers of the Baahubali franchise.

This comes a day after it was reported that the franchise's second part completed its 100-day run at the box office, since its release on April 28, and managed to rake in Rs 1,700 crore.

Last month, the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings for Indian movies for Week 1 to 27 were released and Baahubali topped the chart.

Made on a budget of around Rs 450 crore, both parts of the Baahubali series were massive hits.

The film has been directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Media Works.

SS Rajamouli’s father and well-known writer Vijayendra Prasad had penned the story while MM Keeravani was in charge of the music.

The film had a big star cast that included Prabhas in the title role with Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Sathyaraj, Nasser, Ramya Krishnan and others.
